ABOUT

A Small Adventist School . .

Cornerstone Adventist Academy opened its doors for the first time on August 15, 2016 with a class of 20 students. Cornerstone is currently a one-room school serving PreK/K and grades 1-8.

There are many advantages to the multi-grade classroom. Some research indicates that students in a multi-grade classroom have higher reading and math achievement, better work-study skills, and better self-concepts than their peers in single-grade classrooms.

Cornerstone Adventist Academy is a ministry of the University City Seventh-day Adventist Church. The school is governed by a board selected by the church and operates under the supervision of the Carolina Conference Office of Education.

Staff . . .

Sonja Eberhart our principal and teacher of our elementary and middle schoolers brings a wealth of experience with her 38-plus-years as an educator.

Belquiz Baez our PreK/K teacher has oversight to ensure a positive learning environment.

Gabriel Palacios is in his second year of studies at Andrews University as a piano performance and mathematics major. He plans to pursue a master’s degree in piano performance.

Melinda Mitchell is our support staff member.  She is a graduate of Oakwood University and received her Master of Education degree in Elementary Education from Alabama A&M University. She previously taught as an educator for 20 years.

Mission Statement

Cornerstone Adventist Academy exists to partner with families and the church to show children Jesus, nurture their love for Him, teach them to think, and empower them to serve.
